The Ingersoll Pharmasave is currently administering about 30 doses of the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine each day but it's hoping to double that in the near future.
OXFORD COUNTY - Local pharmacies are administering the Oxford Astra-Zeneca vaccine every day at three locations in Oxford County.
They are the Shoppers at 959 Dundas in Woodstock, Pharmasave in Ingersoll and Remedy Rx in Ingersoll. AstraZeneca is stored inside a refrigerator that is also used for flu shots. Anyone over 55 can book an appointment at the pharmacies right now.
You can also book an appointment at the mass vaccination clinics in Woodstock and St. Thomas through Southwestern Public Health if you are over the age of 65.
Owner and pharmacist at the Ingersoll Pharmasave Dom Ricciuto says right now they are doing about 30 vaccines a day.
"Our particular store, our goal is to ramp up to roughly 60 a day, this week we just received vaccines, so we had a couple of practice days, days where we worked out all the kinds, currently we are doing 30 a day right now, with plans to ramp up to 60 a day soon."
Ricciuto says you can apply right now to get on the waiting list.
"We are only booking appointments for what we currently have vaccine in inventory for, most recently we received 200 vaccines, we had a waiting list and those appointments booked very, very quickly, so the response from the community has been overwhelming."
You can get on the waiting list for an appointment at the Pharmasave in Ingersoll through their website and anyone can book an appointment at any participating pharmacy through the Provincial portal as well.
You can listen to the full interview with Ricciuto below where he also discusses the entire process of getting a vaccine through the pharmacy, from booking online to the moment you leave.
