Emergency crews have been busy working on a large garage fire, just outside of Woodstock City Limits. Fire crews from Woodstock, Oxford Centre, Burgessville and Norwich are working on knocking down a major blaze on Towerline Road at County Road 4. Not much will be left of the building that housed several workshops and two apartment buildings, but the good news is no one was hurt. Mark Jones owned a car window tinting garage in the building and tells Heart FM what happened. "There was a little flicker of my lights, next thing you know, buddy from next door was yelling 'We've got a fire up in the attic'. I grabbed my dog, threw him in my van, and pulled my customers car out of my shop and started pulling more stuff out." Lisa Freeman lives with her boyfriend in one of the back apartment buildings. She spoke with Heart FM as well, as she stood with her two dogs, watching firefighters try to save their apartment. "I'm hoping it doesn't hit our apartment and it's just smoke damage. But I'm just glad everybody's safe, that's all." Another one of the shop owners says he turned a heater on this morning, and smelled smoke shortly afterwards. The fire originated in the attic of the shop building. It will be a number of hours yet before the scene is cleared. Parkinson Road and Towerline Road is blocked from Beards Lane all the way to the 401. Tune into Heart FM for more reaction from the fire scene, along with some video footage of the blaze.
