Woodstock Police are reporting a couple of incidents of a man prowling near homes in the city. On Tuesday night, a man was spotted standing amonst trees on Nellis St. When he was confronted, the man took off northbound on Springbank. He was described as being 25-35-years-old, 6-feet tall with a white ball cap, grey sweater and dark track pants. Wednesday night, at the same time, around 11PM, police were called again about a suspicious man on Springbank. A resident was watching TV when they noticed their outdoor light turn out. They found it had been unscrewed. A neighbour had advised them and police they had spotted a man with a white ball cap in their backyard. Police are advising residents of the reports, and are asking people who see a suspicious person in your neighbourhood, call police at 537-2323. Here are some other tips from authorities: In Public: -Exercise caution when conversing with people you have just met. Avoid giving your name, address, and/or place of employment. -Be cautious about accepting rides with people you do not know. -Have a fully charged cell phone on your person. Technology: -Do not advertise your activities and/or location on social media. Anything posted on web sites like Facebook are in the public domain and can be easily accessed by would be criminals Around the Home -Be careful not to give personal information to people that are canvassing at the door, or on the phone or internet -Ensure your home is secure. Windows and doors are locked. -Have adequate outdoor lighting -Make sure your shed is secure or any outbuildings. -Record serial numbers of high price items that may be in your home.
