Marwood International will have to pay a $175,000 fine in relation to the death of an employee in Tillsonburg in July 2021.
WOODSTOCK/TILLSONBURG - Marwood International has pled guilty to violating the Occupational Health and Safety Act, following the death of an employee at its Tillsonburg facility.
The incident happened back on July 15th, 2021. A forklift operator was moving steel coils in the storage bay when they accidentally hit another steel coil. This caused three coils to fall over in a domino effect, and 44-year-old James Klein was standing between two of them at the time.
Marwood pled guilty in a Woodstock courtroom on November 17th and it's now facing a $175,000 fine. The court has also imposed a 25 percent victim fine surcharge.
