Incumbent Mayor Trevor Birtch and current councillor and mayoral candidate Shawn Shapton will square off in a special mayors debate on Friday morning.
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Chamber of Commerce will be holding a morning Mayoral debate at the Quality Hotel and Suites.
Incumbent Mayor Trevor Birtch and current councillor and mayoral candidate Shawn Shapton will be taking questions on Friday morning.
Chamber General Manager Kim Whitehead says everything will get underway at 7:30 a.m. and wrap up close to 9 a.m.
"We want to give people a chance to get to work in time. Come out, have coffee and donuts and then head off to work for the day. It also helps people who work shift work, so if they work straight afternoons they have the chance to come to a live debate in the morning too."
BDO's Brent VanParys will be moderating the event.
Whitehead says both candidates will have the same amount of time to speak.
"We're going to ask both candidates the same questions. They will have the chance to each answer the questions, opening remarks, closing remarks and so on."
Members of the public were invited to submit their questions to the Chamber of Commerce, Heart FM, or the Woodstock Sentinel Review. The best questions have been selected and the candidates will answer them tomorrow morning.
