Oxford County Trustee Bill McKinnon has decided to resign from the Thames Valley District School Board following a four-month leave of absence.
OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford County Trustee Bill McKinnon has announced his resignation from the Thames Valley District Board.
McKinnon made the announcement after a four month leave of absence for medical reasons. He was first elected to the Board in 2010 and served as Vice Chair, and was twice elected Chair of the Board.
Board Chair Lori-Ann Pizzolato wanted to thank McKinnon for his years of service.
"Bill’s commitment to student achievement and well-being has been a real asset to the Board for more than a decade, who thanked Trustee McKinnon for his longstanding support for public education."
Education Director Mark Fisher praised Trustee McKinnon for his dedication to the school communities of Oxford County.
"Bill worked tirelessly for his constituents and always made the success of Oxford students his top priority."
In addition to his role at Thames Valley, Trustee McKinnon has played an active role in the community and has been an integral member of the Future Oxford Community Committee, the Thames Valley Education Fund, the United Way Stair Climb event and the Backpacks for Kids program in Oxford County.
