We have 223 new measles cases in Ontario and 57 of them are in the Southwestern Public Health region.
SWPH - It's another jump in measles cases in for Southwestern Public Health.
Medical Officer of Health Dr. Ninh Tran says there are 57 new infections in Oxford, Elgin and Middlesex. This is a significant increase compared to the 15 new cases reported last week.
The health unit has reported a total of 429 cases since the province-wide outbreak began in the fall.
Public Health Ontario reported 223 new measles cases yesterday, which brings the province-wide total to 1,243 since October 2024. Eight people have been admitted to intensive care and no deaths have been reported.
Over 86 percent of the cases were unvaccinated, while 1.2 percent had received one dose of the vaccine, and 4.7 percent received two doses of the vaccine. Just over 7 percent had unknown vaccination status.
