It was the battle of highway 59 at the Southwood Arena on Sunday. The Norwich Merchants scored twice in the second period and their solid defence kept the Vets off the scoreboard in a 2-0 win over Woodstock. Norwich are still holding the top spot in the Niagara Junior C West division with 19 points; one point ahead of New Hamburg and Paris who are tied for second. The Vets suffered their fifth straight loss and are currently fifth in the division. Woodstock will look to rebound Friday night when they host the Tavistock Braves at their Breast Cancer Awareness Jersey Night. The Vets will be sporting special pink sweaters in support of Breast Cancer, which will be auctioned off after the game.
