County releases report on cause of ambulance that drove the wrong way on the 401.
Oxford County has released its findings from the investigation into the case of the wrong way ambulance.
Back on February 5th, an Oxford County EMS crew was heading back from responding to a multi-vehicle pile-up on the 401 near Putnam when the driver discovered they were driving the wrong way on the 401 with live traffic.
The County says after reviewing the communication logs from the incident, paramedics did follow proper procedures in acting on road information they received. However, the description of the road closure from the "emergency response partners" lacked clarity.
Communication logs show the initial reported closure was between Culloden Road and Elgin Road. However, the extent of the closure was later altered to be between Culloden Road and Putnam Road. It was the communication of the change in road closure where the confusion occurred.
Oxford EMS, OPP and the London Central Ambulance Communications Centre have been in an ongoing review of the incident.
No collision was caused, and there were no injuries as a result of the incident.
