A motorcycle driver from Tillsonburg is facing serious, life threatening injuries after a head on collision with an SUV in Norfolk County.
TILLSONBURG - A motorcycle driver from Tillsonburg is facing serious, life threatening injuries after a head on collision with an SUV in Norfolk County.
Police say the crash happened this morning at around 5:39 a.m. on Norfolk Road 30. According to police the motorcycle crossed over the centre line and collided head on with the SUV.
The SUV hit the ditch and rolled over, while the 38 year old driver of the bike was ejected and hit a tree. He was taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries. The driver of the SUV suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
Technical Collision Investigators are on scene assisting with the investigation.
Norfolk County Road 30 between Goshen Road and Plowman's Line was closed for approximately 5 hours to allow for further investigation. Police have not released the identity of the motorcycle driver, but he is a Tillsonburg resident.
Update (7:45 p.m.) - OPP say the male motorcycle driver has succumbed to his injuries. He has been identified as 38 year old Matthew Allan Zwiep of Tillsonburg.
