Music in the Park and Salute to Brant Business are two of the four events that have been cancelled this year because of the pandemic. The events were scheduled to start on July 2nd and September 24th respectively.
BRANT COUNTY - The County of Brant has cancelled a number of events this summer because of the pandemic.
The following events were originally postponed and are now officially canncelled for 2020:
- Music in the Park
- Brant Celebrates
- Brant Colours
- Salute to Brant Business
Director of Economic Development and Tourism for the County of Brant Russell Press explains why they made these difficult decisions.
"Our number one priority, at the County of Brant, is to protect the health and safety of the community and staff. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic and the provincial government and the health authority’s recommendations, we cannot encourage people to gather. We have made the difficult decision to cancel additional events. This is certainly a disappointment to us and many people who look forward to these events all year. When we can safely gather again, it will be better than ever."
Music in the Park was scheduled to occur on Thursdays at 6:30 pm, beginning July 2 and ending August 27, 2020 at Lions Park in Paris.
Brant Celebrates was set to debut on Monday, September 7, 2020 as a new week-long event which included daily events honouring arts and culture in the County of Brant.
Brant Colours, a 4-day juried plein air paint out with a show and sale, was scheduled to begin on Wednesday, September 9, 2020.
Salute to Brant Business, a well-attended annual event created to thank and acknowledge local businesses for being positive corporate citizens was scheduled for Thursday, September 24, 2020.
Press says they do plan to bring these events back next year.
"We look forward to welcoming everyone back to these events when it is safe to do so. Until then, please help prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the community by practicing physical distancing, wearing a face mask when physical distancing may be difficult and washing your hands regularly."
