NIAGARA FALLS - Municipal leaders from across the region will venture to Niagara Falls to take part in the AMO conference.
Highlighting the hard work and advancements communities accomplish is the main purpose for the gathering that has taken place for over 115 years. Among those in attendance will be Woodstock Mayor, Trevor Birtch, and he knows there is a lot to be discussed over the 4 days.
"This week we have another meeting of the Smart Energy Oxford Committee and I'll have a lot of good key messages and points that I can discuss with others. As questions arise we encourage other leaders to make the same kind of decisions that are good for the environment, and good for the next generation."
Over 60 workshops and sessions have been planned with over 1,600 people expected to take part. Pension sustainability, waste management legislation, and accessibility are just a few of the many topics that will be covered.
Mayor Birtch explains how much Woodstock has to offer by being present at this conference.
"We have excellent people and staff that can help support the initiatives that they have, especially in a setting like Oxford where we have a Minister of Provincial Parliament that is from the opposition party. We're even more cognisant about building those positive relationships with the senior level government."
When the conference begins on the 16th and runs through until the 19th it will allow Mayor Birtch to discuss challenges other communities experience and not make the same mistakes when dealing with the Friendly City.
