A 41 year-old Woodstock man is facing a second degree murder charge following the death of an elderly woman. Woodstock Police responded to a call Tuesday evening of a collapsed woman at 58 Huron Street. It was at that time police discovered the body of 84 year-old Pearl Brown. Brown's death was deemed suspicious and a post mortem conducted Wednesday confirmed her death was the result of a homicide. Staff Sergeant Darren Sweazey says an arrest was made Wednesday around 4:00 pm. "We wanted to emphasize that there is no threat or danger to our community and no further arrests are expected at this point in the investigation". Sweazey says the victim and suspect were known to each other. "The investigation is still very much in its preliminary stages and still very much actively in progress". The suspect, who has not been identified at this time, will appear in court this morning.
