Navy Vets Take To The Ice To Show Off Talent

Two iconic games for the Navy Vets are taking place at the Southwood Arena.

WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Navy Vets are gearing up for two very exciting games.

Navy Vets President Devon Young says there will be some very good hockey out there on the ice. "For the All Star game it's going to be our Navy Vets Alumni against the League All Stars. And that's going to be in the first game which is at 4:45 p.m. The second game will be the League Prospects game, and that game is awesome. Essentially that is the chosen prospects under the age of 18 in the league split into two teams."

Young says this is a great chance to see some up and coming talent. "That prospect's game which is the 7 o'clock game this year rather than being the early game. It's very, very good hockey - the kids play hard. There are some scouts in the stands and all that stuff. For anybody in Woodstock who wants to see a good game of hockey that's entertaining that will also be very, very fun to watch."

Navy Vets fans have shown a lot of support for the alumni and Young says he hopes to see that continue. "We've had some of the biggest crowds we've ever seen. I mean even at the Alumni night last week, I think our attendance was in the mid-600's but we also had another 100+ alumni that didn't go through the gate. So we're hoping that we can put forth a good turnout for the League All Star game as well, especially with the community aspect of having our alumni play."

The Navy Vet All Star vs. League All Star game is at 4:45 p.m. at the Community Complex and the Prospects game is at 7:45 p.m. at the Community Complex.
