Oxford County Public Health wants you to think twice before taking any street drugs.
WOODSTOCK - If you're taking street drugs, you might get more than what you have bargained for.
Supervisor of Health Protection Joanne Andrews says that's the message Oxford County Public Health is trying to get across, with two new ads in the Woodstock transit shelters.
"We're building on a provincial campaign that is trying to build awareness among people who may use street drugs that fentanyl may be present in their drug and they may not expect it to be there."
Fentanyl is a dangerous opioid that can be fatal in the event of an overdose. If you still decide to use illicit drugs, Andrews says you should test it out with a small dose first and have a friend nearby.
"Make sure that person isn't using drugs at the same time you are, so that person can provide assistance if you do have an overdose."
In the event of an overdose you should administer naloxone and call 911.
