WOODSTOCK - Pittock Conservation Area has some new Lake Patrol for the summer.
The Lake patrol will be on the water this summer making sure people are following the rules and staying safe. Boat Patrol Officer Olivia Skillings tells Heart FM what she will be watching for.
"Making sure they have a bailing bucket, enough life jackets for everybody on the boat and that they are accessible, they need to have a tow rope, first aid kit, fire extinguisher, it all depends on the type of boat, so their is different safety equipment for different types of boats."
Skillings says if she catches you without the proper safety equipment, you are told to head back to the shore and once you are properly supplied, you are more than welcome to come back. She also patrols the no wake zones to make sure everyone has an enjoyable experience on the lake.
A lot more people have been using Pittock Lake over the past couple of years, whether they be on power boats, fishing boats, canoe's, kayaks and dragon boats. The boat patrol was brought in to help monitor the increased activity.
