Why Not Us is teaming up with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Woodstock and District, to offer new programs for youth in the community.
WOODSTOCK - Big Brothers Big Sisters of Woodstock and District are teaming up with Why Not Us.
The two organizations will be joining forces with Big Brothers Big Sisters excellent fundraising record and Why Not Us's capability to get youth excited and involved.
Big Brothers Big Sisters Executive Director Kristen Ralph says it's a match made in heaven.
"They are all about what we look for when we're talking about volunteers and we're talking about what people can do for their own community and we thought what a natural partnership this would be."
They will also work together to introduce new programs for youth in the community, including a new cooking class.
Why Not Us President Todd Materick says the kids will learn how to cook a proper meal over an 8 to 12 week span.
"At our final class or final end of production there, all of the children from the program will come and they'll be able to showcase what they've learned with a final meal; so right from the start of the appetizers to the main course to the dessert. It's very exciting and I think it shows kids that if you start something you can see it right through to the finish."
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Woodstock and District and Why Not Us will post more program information on their websites as it becomes available.
