As of September 8th, airlines will be required to either refund or re-book passengers for all flights cancelled or significantly delayed.
The Canadian Transportation Agency is beefing up rights for passengers.
Starting September 8th, carriers will be required to refund or re-book passengers at their choice if a flight is cancelled or significantly delayed.
Previously, carriers were only required to provide refunds or re-book flights for disruptions that were within the airline's control.
The chair of the agency says if a new reservation cannot be provided within 48 hours of a flight delay or cancellation, refunds or re-bookings will need to be offered within 30 days
