The Elgin County OPP Crime Unit, along with Forensic Identification Services are continuing the investigation, under the direction the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.
ELGIN COUNTY - A 45 year-old man from Norfolk County has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with human remains found in an area east of Port Burwell.
Chad-Reu Waters, who was arrested today, is also charged with committing indignity to a dead body. The body was found on May 6th.
The human remains were identified as Ashley Max Domenic Pereira from Mississauga, who was 33 years-old at the time he went missing in 2002.
The Elgin County OPP Crime Unit, along with Forensic Identification Services are continuing the investigation, under the direction the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB).
According to the report, the OPP conducts a thorough investigation aiming at keeping the public safe and respecting the families of the victims, while the protecting the integrity of the investigation.
The OPP want thank members of the community and the media for their patience and for helping with the investigation. The time between the disappearance of the deceased and the discovery of the human remains presented investigators with significant investigative challenges.
