OPP say a 56 year-old man is dead following a farming incident Monday night.
NORFOLK COUNTY -- A Norfolk County farmer is dead following an incident at a North Walsingham property.
OPP say Monday evening, shortly after 7:00 pm, police, fire, EMS and Air Ornge responded to a call on Norfolk County Road 45.
The investigation revealed that the 56 year-old man was driving a three-wheel fertilizer spreader with a seasonal worker as a passenger. The two were exiting the tobacco field at the end of the tobacco rows when for reasons unknown, continued down a large embankment for approximately 75 feet before entering a large pond and overturning.
The seasonal worker was able to jump from the equipment and ran to a nearby farm to call for assistance.
Norfolk County Fire Services assisted in removing the man the water.
According to OPP, Cyriel D'Hulster of Norfolk County was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Ministry of Labour and Ministry of Environment have been notified; the investigation is continuing.
