NORWICH - The Township of Norwich has approved a new fuel station for compressed natural gas and compressed bio-methane derived from agricultural sources.
Small and large scale vehicles and tractors will be able to use the station which will be located on County Road 59. The blended product is about 30 percent cleaner than the fuel we are using now and in large vehicles it actually increases the horse power and the torque of the vehicle.
Murray Logan presented the idea for the fuel station on behalf of his company Faramor CNG and he tells Heart FM the approval will allow them to get started on the development.
"What it does is it allows us to move forward with the development itself, it also will now offer those within our county the opportunity to fuel vehicles small scale or large scale with compressed natural gas and eventually a blend of compressed natural gas and renewable natural gas from a bio methane farm operated generator."
Mayor Larry Martin tells Heart FM this is just one the steps they are taking as we prepare to be completely reliant on renewable energy by 2050.
"With the applications today we will absolutely meet our goal, one small step at a time and we will get there eventually and I still think we can beat the 2050 deadline, because the technology and everything is in place and all we have to do is expand on what we have, we will get there before 2050."
This is one of the first fuel stations in Canada that will be offering a blended fuel product.
