Family Literacy Day is right around the corner and the Oxford County Library is going to offer a variety of online activities this year.
OXFORD COUNTY - The Oxford County Library will be celebrating Family Literacy Day, but all activities will be online this year.
They will be taking place every hour on the hour from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday January 27th.
System Support Librarian Sarah McDonald says there will be something for all ages.
"We have activities from Books for Babies right at 10:00 a.m. We have story times throughout the day, we have Tales on Safari, Alphabet on the Go, we've got some programs for teens and later on in the evening we'll have some adult literacy suggestions as well."
McDonald says the entire day will highlight the importance of reading to your kids.
"Fifty-seven percent of kids who are frequent readers have parents who read to them five to seven days per week so family literacy is really important. Reading to your kids also helps you with your literacy skills as well."
You don't need an Oxford County Library card in order to participate, but it is recommended that you send McDonald an e-mail in advance. Her e-mail address is smcdonald@ocl.net.
