After one year of construction headaches; the big expansion to Ste Marguerite Bourgeoys is finally complete.
WOODSTOCK - The new expansion at Ste Marguerite Bourgeoys is open for business.
Woodstock's French Catholic Elementary School now has eight new classrooms for the Grade 1 and 2 students.
Principal Luc Blanchette says it's a wonderful addition to building.
"I think everybody is very happy. This was long overdue so it's very nice for the kids, the staff and the community."
The school had 202 students about 10 years ago. That has more than doubled today, with a total of 438 students.
Joseph Pickard, Director of Education with Conseil Scolaire Catholique Providence is very satisfied with the end product.
"It really turned out quite well because the design is very fluid and it looks like one school. Sometimes you can see the addition but this is very fluid, so that's what's great and we're able to integrate technology and things like that which is always a very good thing."
The year-long construction project cost $3.7 million in the end.
The school held an official opening ceremony yesterday; with Education Minister Lisa Thompson and other local dignitaries in attendance.
