Woodstock Police will be keeping a close eye on the roads this long weekend with Operation Impact.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Police will be taking part in Operation Impact this long weekend.
Constable Nikki VanLeeuwen says Officers will be cracking down on drinking and driving with RIDE programs set up across the City.
"We are definitely having RIDE checks, we are going to be doing some of the daytime morning RIDE spot checks as well for people that consume alcohol and don't wait enough time for it to leave their system, so watch in the morning, police will be stopping you."
They will also be targeting speeders and distracted drivers. Operation Impact happens on the Thanksgiving Weekend every year because more people are out on the roads travelling. It hits close to home in Woodstock after Baby Alex Fleming was killed in a crash in 2008 on the October long weekend by an impaired driver.
"A family lost a baby boy in a crash back in 2008 to an impaired driver, our focus, we are going to have a lot of attention on distracted driving and looking for people using their cell phones specifically."
