INGERSOLL - Operation Sharing is holding a taxable item drive at the grand re-opening of the Giant Tiger in Ingersoll today.
The event will coincide with the store's grand re-opening, who is also is having a barbecue.
Volunteer Coordinator Chris Eby says they're expecting a lot of people.
"Remember it's taxable items, things like toilet paper, toothbrushes and toothpaste. Things like that, but not the taxable items."
He adds there is a low amount of taxable items this time of year. Eby says he'll be there to explain how the drive works, which goes from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Giant Tiger's barbecue goes from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm and the money raised from the event will go towards Food For Friends, which is a charity to help low-income families.
He says OPP and members of the Ingersoll Fire Department are expected to be there too.
"It's going to be a great day. If we can get everybody out that we hope to get out that's special, then it's going to be a great day."
He adds there's a possibility for fire trucks to be there for the children in attendance so they can look inside of the trucks, along with the Oxford County EMS ambulances.
Proceeds from the taxable item drive will go towards Operation Sharing.
