Police say OPP Constable Tarun Bali was killed in the line of duty in Hearst, Ontario.
HEARST - An OPP constable has died in the line of duty in northern Ontario.
Constable Tarun Bali was seriously injured during an investigation close to the town of Hearst yesterday afternoon. OPP Commissioner Thomas Carrique says he was struck by a motor vehicle and later died in hospital. An 18-year-old man was arrested and charged with first degree murder, dangerous driving and flight from police.
Bali was 29-years-old and he was assigned to the Dufferin Detachment with 2.5 years of service. He was on deployment with the James Bay Detachment at the time of his death.
The OPP supporting Bali's family members at this time, while also sending its condolences to his loved ones, colleagues, and others affected by this tragedy.
