Operation Cookie Monster has been under investigation for 4 years.
ONTARIO - The OPP's Cybercrime Investigations Team has been working with multiple municipal police services, including the Woodstock Police, as part of an FBI-led investigation.
Operation Cookie Monster has been under investigation for four years, focusing on an online criminal market known as Genesis Market.
It is believed that Genesis Market collected stolen data like email addresses, usernames, and passwords and packaged this data for sale. The number of victims in Ontario is not known.
Yesterday, OPP executed three search warrants in Ontario to collect multiple electronic devices needing to be examined for the investigation. At this time, the investigations are ongoing.
Other municipal police involved in the investigation include the London Police Service, Waterloo Regional Police Service, Peel Regional Police, Toronto Police Service, and the York Regional Police.
