OPP ask the puiblic to carefully check websites and never give out financial information while online.
NORFOLK COUNTY - The OPP are warning everyone to be aware of various scams on the internet, including the Romance and Dating Scam.
The police responded to call in Norfolk County on November 1 after a resident reported their money was stolen after meeting a male online through social media.
According to the report, there were several emails exchanged between them.
In one the emails they exchanged, the suspect requested several money transfers for emergency purposes, adding up to $40,000.
OPP advise the public to carefully check the websites they're using and never give out personal information while meeting people online.
