The Oxford County Council are planning to discuss affordable housing, wastewater management, and more at their next meeting this Wednesday.
OXFORD COUNTY - The Oxford County Council is planning on covering housing, wastewater management, and curbside waste audit.
This Wednesday, the council is looking to tackle the growing housing problem, where more people are finding difficulty accessing affordable housing, to gain approval to consolidate all of its water distribution and to improve wastewater collection services.
They will focus on looking for ways to bring variety to the rental market for oxford residents, including affordable renting based on income and market-rate rentals.
The recommended target is around 100 new rental units per year
A 2021 audit also found that up to 60% of waste in garbage bags was found to be, organic waste. This type of waste can be used in composting to better prevent landfill buildup.
Other issues the Council is looming to tackle include Local support for Ukrainian refugees, the Canada Wide Early Learning Child Care Agreement, and other issues such as the recruitment of a Chief Administrative Officer.
