While it may be tough, Oxford County wants you to eat healthy this holiday season.
While it may be difficult, Oxford County is reminding everyone how important it is to eat healthily this season.
At this time of year there are parties to go to, family gatherings to attend, and many, many tempting goodies. It doesn’t take long to overindulge at this time of year and Public Health is reminding you to take it easy on the sweets.
School nutrition coordinator and registered dietitian Kelly Ferguson says the key to eating well is to think ahead. "The key is really planning ahead and taking the time to prepare now for next week's chaos by putting some meals in the freezer and chopping up some fruit or vegetables for grab-and-go purposes," Ferguson says.
Ferguson also said it’s easy to get kids involved in healthy eating as well. She says you can try to arrange snacks in festive shapes – like a Christmas Tree made out of broccoli – to get kids into the spirit while still making sure they’re eating well.
