Oxford County wants to help take the guess work out of garbage and recycling collection
Want to know when your garbage collection day is in Oxford County? There's an app for that...
Oxford has launched a new web site and mobile app called Wasteline. It is designed to help you keep track of the new garbage and recycling pick up schedules coming up in the fall along with things like bulky item pick up days. Waste Management Coordinator for Oxford County Pamela Antonio tells Heart FM the app will also let you know what can or can't be recycled. "A feature that allows you to type in a material to find out how to get rid of it, so for example if you want to find out how to get rid of a garden hose, your old tires, or possibly some hazardous waste, or maybe you're wondering if something is a bluebox material - you can type it into the website and it will tell you how to properly dispose of the material."
Antonio says you can also sign up for automated reminders by text, email, phone, or twitter messages for garbage pickup dates. Wasteline tools are for use by residents in all eight of Oxford's area municipalities and can be found at www.wasteline.ca, in your mobile device’s App Store or Google Play, as well as on your local municipality’s website. Entering your home address will bring up your personal collection schedule for garbage, recycling, and large items.
