MPP Ernie Hardeman says it's an investment for our local communities.
OXFORD COUNTY - That's $8,076,963 worth of infrastructure funding for Oxford County's municipalities.
Oxford MPP Ernie Hardeman made the provincial funding announcement this morning.
"This funding is important to our municipal partners here in Oxford. By investing in our local communities, our government is helping to foster economic growth and resilience."
The County of Oxford will receive the largest cheque with $5,088,794. The remaining funds will be split amongst the eight lower-tier municipalities and you can find the complete breakdown below:
Woodstock - $762,354
Norwich Township - $445,155
Tillsonburg - $442,956
Blandford-Blenheim - $399,607
Ingersoll - $385,494
South-West Oxford- $230,515
Zorra - $191,007
East Zorra-Tavistock - $131,081
The money is coming from the Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund (OCIF) and it's supposed to help renew and rehabilitate critical infrastructure.
The OCIF helps fund infrastructure projects for municipalities with populations under 100,000. The same goes for rural and northern municipalities, and Local Services Boards with their own water or wastewater systems.
The Ford Government is planning to allocate $400 million in OCIF funding next year. It will be going to 423 communities to help build roads, bridges, water and wastewater infrastructure.
