An accomplished photographer and publisher will be capturing Oxford County in a coming book. Richard Bain has an extensive history of work. "I have sixteen books out and the seventeenth is the University of Windsor which I'm working on at the present time. The books include Niagara, Stratford, the Thames, five universities, Fanshawe College. I really look forward to doing a county book," said Bain. Tourism Specialist with the county Cathy Bingham says this book would be a great promotional tool for Oxford. "We have websites and printed material, but a book is something people can take home and use. Not just visitors to the community, but people within it as well. What a wonderful gift to give to your children who now live afar," said Bingham. County Council gave the nod to fronting the funding for the book. It will cost over 25-thousand dollars, most of which will come from the 2013 budget. While approved by most councillors, Deb Tait and Pat Sobeski voiced reluctance. Both thought the price tag was too high. But Bain told council the project should break even at the very least. He suggested Oxford could use the photographs to boost tourism and economic development in the region or simply sell for keepsakes.
