TILLSONBURG - Tillsonburg residents can stop by the local Sobey's on Friday afternoon to get their car washed by staff from the Oxford County Paramedics Services.
The initiative is in support of the Children's Aid Society of Oxford County.
Chief of Oxford County Paramedic Services Ben Addley says whether you're shopping or just around the local grocery store, they'll be accepting donations for one of CAS Oxford County's charities.
"It will be our paramedic staff at the Tillsonburg Sobey's on Broadway Street, and I believe it'll be from 12 o'clock from 6 o'clock in the afternoon, and they'll be doing a carwash. For anybody who comes, whether they're shopping or just want to come by, and we'll be accepting donations and 100% of those donations will be given to the Oxford County Children's Aid Camp For Kids campaign. We have done this in the past, it was a very successful year last year."
The event raised over $1,200 last year. This year, their goal is to raise over $1,300.
The paramedic staff contribute to the community through their service and professionalism, along with participating in local events. Addley says being involved in these kind of events shows the commitment they have to the community.
"It shows the commitment that our staff certainly have to the communities that they serve, many as residents and many as paramedics that work in the community and they want to make sure they give back and support the community. We know that we get a fair bit of support from the community. Personally, we hear it from people, we know that people appreciate the service we deliver and I think they want to make sure they're more involved and support the community in many different ways and this is one of those."
The fundraiser goes from 12:00pm to 6:00pm.
