OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford Junior Farmers have generously donated funds to AgScape's teacher ambassador program.
The program focuses on bringing free agricultural lessons into the classroom and giving teachers more opportunities.
Colleen Smith Director of AgScape tells Heart FM the program gives teaching opportunities to any teacher that feels under utilized in the education system.
"We orient them with a wide variety of agricultural topics, we train them, we equip them to deliver classroom lessons on those topics."
The program teaches up to 12 different topics from local food, bio-technology, organic food and animal health to students in grades 7-12.
Smith adds they are very pleased to accept this donation from the Oxford Junior Farmers who have supported the program in the past.
"They think the idea of underemployed, new teachers delivering free classroom lessons, of a wide range of food and agricultural topics, is worth their attention."
