Oxford OPP have added two new vehicles to their fleet.
They have purchased two new All Terrain Vehicle's that will be used to cover more areas within the county and engage in more enforcement. Oxford OPP have 16 trained ATV officers who will be assigned to conduct patrols and enforcement on local trails and people riding on private property.
Officers have already been conducting ATV patrols along trails, railway lines and private property with the landowner’s permission, and have handed out charges under the ORV and Trespass to Property Act.
The new machines arrived just in time for the Long Weekend where police will be putting an extra emphasis on the trails.
Staff Sergeant John Murray had this to say about the new machines.
"The addition of these vehicles to our fleet here in Oxford, will allow us to be more proactive in our enforcement. It will also allow us to provide more effective services and ultimately assist us with our ultimate goal which is public safety."
