Police have issued an update on a phone scam warning after finding out that the Tillsonburg Fire Safety Day is a legitimate event.
TILLSONBURG - Oxford OPP have sent out an update on a phone scam release regarding the Tillsonburg Fire Safety Day.
It turns out Tillsonburg Fire Safety Day is a legitimate event after all and the organizers have advised that they will only be soliciting corporate sponsorship for this event. OPP thought it was a scam after receiving a complaint from the public. They did check with the Town of Tillsonburg Fire Services who were not aware of the event and are not soliciting funds for any fundraiser's right now.
At this time The Tillsonburg Fire Services are now aware of the event planned and are reviewing whether they will be participating in the event.
Police would like to thank the public for reaching out so details about the organizers could be verified.
