The 2021 Oxford Reads Gala will be happening on Saturday October 16th. Emma Donoghue, the author of The Pull of the Stars, will be this year's Oxford Reads pick.
OXFORD COUNTY - The Oxford County Library and the Woodstock Public Library are teaming up for the 2021 Oxford Reads Gala.
The virtual event is happening on October 16th at 7:00 pm.
OCL System Support Librarian Sarah McDonald says the gala will feature this year's Oxford Reads pick, Emma Donoghue.
"She is the author of this years novel called The Pull of the Stars. It is a historical novel, set against the backdrop of the Spanish Flu and the first world war, so it is quite timely as we read about a pandemic, one that happened over 100 years ago."
McDonald says the gala will look a little different this year.
"So last year we streamed our virtual gala online through social media on our Facebook page, so anybody could watch at home, this year we are going to move it to zoom, so our participants can all be in one room with the host and the author."
The goal of Oxford Reads is to get the community talking, by reading the same novel. The gala will once again be hosted by the CBC's Chris dela Torre.
It is free to attend and you can find out how to register online here.
