The Oxford Road 59 bridge was a major topic of discussion at the latest Oxford County Council meeting. Councilors discussed ways to minimize the impact the work will have on residents and emergency response teams.
OXFORD COUNTY - Construction is a season that rarely takes time off.
During the latest Oxford County Council meeting, there was talk about the upcoming work to be done on the Oxford Road 59 Bridge.
Warden, Marcus Ryan knows issues are going to come up while the construction happens.
"That's going to be a mess. When you do construction on a bridge like that, that is so integral to the transportation for people in and out of Woodstock, that construction is going to be a mess when it happens."
Ryan says there was long discussions on this issue.
"Council had a really good debate about how to prioritize those things in order to minimize the impact on residents moving through there, and especially minimize the impact on emergency services moving through there when that construction happens."
He adds once work starts, it will be a disaster, but prioritizing emergency reponse times was key for council.
