At the time of council's report, 14 of the 16 municipal drinking systems in the County received 100 percent inspection ratings from the the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP).
OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford County council received the reports for the 2019 Annual Water System Performance Summary.
Warden Larry Martin says the reports were fantastic.
"The most important commodity you're going to drink is your water. Water is more important than food is, you can live longer without food than you can with water. So most definitely it's a bonus."
The 2019 Annual Water System Performance Summary reports were brought to County council's meeting on Wednesday.
Warden Martin says a lot of kudos to the staff that conduct the tests.
"Well every time you think of water and drinking water you think of Walkerton, and right now with the results we got on this test it's fantastic. Now we can go out and drink our water and that's good."
The County's report says the Public Works department treated and supplied over 10.5 million cubic metres of drinking water to 21 communities through 17 drinking water systems. At the time of council's report, 14 of the 16 of the County's municipal drinking water systems that were inspected by the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) received 100 per cent inspection ratings.
Their report adds that in accordance with the Safe Drinking Water Act, 2002, the 2019 Annual Water System Performance Summary reports were prepared for each of the County's 17 municipal drinking water systems. Under Schedule 22 and of O.Reg. 170/03, owners of the drinking water system must have reports prepared to provide information such as a brief description of the system, all test results and more.
Staff's report says two other systems received inspection ratings of 95 and 96 percent. An inspection report for Tavistock's system is yet to be finalized.

The 2019 reports will be posted on the County's website by today.
