A panel of experts will try to imagine what the future could look like during a special panel discussion.
TILLSONBURG - Future Oxford is teaming up with the Oxford County Library to host a panel discussion about the book Homo Deus: A Brief History of Tomorrow. The book itself takes a look at how some of the projects and initiatives today can impact the future.
Warden David Mayberry says technology will be one of the big topics of discussion at the Tillsonburg Library.
"I think about things like children born today will not have to learn how to drive a car because the vehicles will be autonomous in a decade. I think about the ability of technology to be able to monitor your health 24 hours a day, seven days a week and give you warnings about what you should or shouldn't do or our ability to genetically predetermine what our next child wants to look like."
The panel will include Oxford Veterinarian Dr. Allyson MacDonald, SCOR Economic Development Officer Nicole Van Quaethem, EZT Mayor Don McKay and George Kloser, a retired farmer and educator.
Mayberry tells Heart FM each panelist will be given the opportunity to voice their opinion.
"I think each of us has our own ideas of where we are going in the future and I think having that conversation collectively as a community is a good place to start."
Mayberry will act as a host for the event, which will take place on Thursday April 13th from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
