Park Place Retirement Residence is showing it's support for Fort McMurray Residents in more ways than one.
WOODSTOCK - Park Place Retirement Residence in Woodstock will be hosting a car wash barbeque fundraiser in order to benefit Fort McMurray relief efforts.
Director of Community Relations Stephanie Peers tells Heart FM she came up with the idea for the fundraiser shortly after they opened their doors to a Fort Mac couple.
"I came across an ad on Kijiji for a couple that had been looking for emergency shelter; they're here in Woodstock now. I decided to reach out to them because we have some guest suites available here and we offered up that space for the Fort McMurray couple to stay as long as they need to."
Peers adds this inspired her to bring the community together to help the relief efforts.
"I started thinking about what I can do with the community to help because I thought what better way to kind of bring the whole community together and help the residents in Alberta, then to make our car wash barbeque into something bigger."
Todd's Dogs will be serving the food with some sale proceeds benefiting the cause and the car wash will be provided by the Woodstock Professional Firefighters Association. On top of all of this there will also be frozen treats available and face painting.
The fundraiser will take place at Park Place located at 126 Graham Street in Woodstock on Friday June 17th. It will kick off at 4pm and come to a close at 8pm.
