Mark Peterson files for re-election in Blandford Blenheim
DRUMBO - Mark Peterson is looking for his second term on Blandford Blenheim council.
Peterson filed his papers earlier this month and says while he is from Drumbo, he cares about each community equally.
"Over the last four years, you know, it's been very rewarding for me. I feel I've put forth the effort by attending 100% of all the meetings and trying to ensure I'm available to everyone township wide and not just from the town I live in."
"Last time at one of the Meet the Candidates nights some body asked me, you're from Drumbo, why should I vote for you, I'm from Plattsville and that kind of stuck with me. I've always remembered that and I wanted to be known as not a Drumbo councillor, I wanted to be known as a Blandford Blenheim councillor because that's what I was voted in for."
Peterson says the biggest challenge over the next four years is the same challenge he faced at the last election.
"Trying to keep the taxes down while providing all of the services. With the rising costs of police, fire, roads, recreational services and also the steady decrease every year from grants and funds from the provinces, this is not only just for our township, but this is a major hurdle for all the municipalities in Ontario."
Peterson will have some competition though. Kenn Howling and Jordan Kent have both filed papers so far.
