Woodstock Police have already received plenty of complaints about pets being left inside hot vehicles.
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Police Service have received numerous calls regarding animals being left inside warm motor vehicles. The Woodstock Police Service would like to remind everyone of the danger this poses.
Every year, hundreds of pets die from heat exhaustion because they are left in parked vehicles.
The temperature inside your vehicle can rise almost 20 degrees in just 10 minutes. In 20 minutes, it can rise almost 30 degrees and the longer you wait, the more dangerous the situation becomes.
Your vehicle can quickly reach a temperature that puts your pet at risk of serious illness and even death. This can occur even on a day that doesn't seem hot to you. Cracking the windows makes no difference.
The Woodstock Police Service reminds pet owners not to leave their pets in hot vehicles.
Please make alternate plans for your animals or leave them at home should you have to appointments or running errands.
