Organizers of transit pilot project in Tillsonburg close up shop.
Despite initial interest, the Tillsonburg Transit Pilot Project has been shut down.
The project, which offered $4 cab rides to workers in the industrial area saw extremely low numbers in their six week run and financial strains caused the program to be put on hold.
Organizer Phil Gravelle tells Heart FM he's confident we haven't seen the end of this project. "I will be approaching industry a little more one-on-one to promote and support and see what they think and see if they want to get on board in some way, shape or form and hopefully it will live again by the end of December I'm hoping like when the weather really gets cold."
The Multi Service Centre had an agreement with the cab company guaranteeing a 5 person ridership in while the organization would pay for the seats not being used.
Gravelle said often times the Service Centre would be paying the entire $20 cab fee as no one would be waiting for a ride.
