City staff are removing playground equipment at the Homer Brown and Broadview parks because they did not meet CSA standards.
WOODSTOCK - The City of Woodstock is removing some playground equipment at two parks in the Friendly City today.
Director of Parks and Recreation Brian Connors explains why they are moving some of the equipment.
"We have done some CSA playground inspections and two our parks did not meet the inspections, so to keep the parks safe, some pieces of equipment are being removed. The parks in question are Homer Brown and Broadview and those pieces are slated to get a complete park renewal next year."
The parks are still open to the public and can still be used by kids in the area and the new equipment should arrive next year. Connors wanted to make it clear this has nothing to do with some of the recent issues at local playgrounds where sewing needles and thumb tacks have been left behind in an attempt to injure children.
"No this has absolutely nothing to do with that, it has to do with safety concerns but that is from CSA inspection but it has nothing to do with needles or anything else."
We have not had another incident in the City since the three we reported on in August. The last incident was recorded on Saturday August 22nd at the splash pad.
Connors says they continue to be diligent at all of the parks in the City and they are hopeful these terrible incidents are behind us, however they and will continue to step up safety inspections.
