Woodstock Police are looking to return a number of stolen items that were taken by porch pirates. The packages were supposed to be delivered on Lansdowne Ave and Wilson Street.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Police are looking to return a number of stolen goods after a stolen vehicle was recovered in another jurisdiction.
Several packages were discovered in the vehicle from addresses on Lansdowne Ave, and Wilson Street. If you are expecting a package but have not received it, please contact police to report it.
With so many stores closed throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, many people have been and will likely continue to shop online for the health and safety of themselves and others. Police are asking the public to take as many measures they can to prevent porch pirates from stealing packages off front porches.
Porch Pirate Prevention:
· Most companies offer an online tracking service, so use it to know when a package is arriving. Other companies may also send email notifications, ensure you have email alerts on so you know when your packages have been or will be delivered.
· Try to arrange for packages to be delivered when you are home or ask a neighbour to hold onto it. If that is not possible, have the package delivered to your place of work or another secure alternative location
· Invest in a home security camera system that will send notifications to your phone when there is activity at your house. Video evidence can assist police services in identifying suspects. *Ones that are high definition with night vision are best.
