Premier Doug Ford was asked today about expanding social circles or bubbles. He thinks the guidelines will be in place until at least January, hopefully sooner if a vaccine becomes available.
ONTARIO - Ontario Premier Doug Ford says he thinks we will be dealing with the pandemic until at least January.
The Premier was in Beamsville today to announce $2 million in funding for Clean Works Medical and Pure Life Machinery from the Ontario Together Fund to help manufacture a one-of-a-kind, sanitizing device called the Clean Flow Healthcare Mini. This Ontario-made device can decontaminate up to 800 N95 masks per hour along with other personal protective equipment.
Ford was asked about the possibility of expanding social circles or the bubble. Currently everyone in the Province is asked to stay in your social circle or bubble of 10, your closest family and friends. Premier Ford says this is the kind of thing we are going to have to get used to for a bit.
"I know that's at the health table and it is always coming up, they want to continue on with the social circles of 10 right now. I will ask that question when I get back on the health table, I talk to them almost every day, I will mention that."
Ford says this pandemic is not over.
"My opinion and I am not a medical professional, but my opinion, this is going until January until we get a vaccine, hopefully we get a vaccine sooner, and we have to be on guard with this constantly. We can't take our eye of the ball for one second with this virus, because it will come back and bite us in the back side like we have we have never seen before."
Ford points to our neighbours to the south as a reminder of what can happen if we stop social distancing.
"As soon as we start getting reckless and careless and everyone is partying away, it is going to be a big problem, what happened in the US, it can happen here and it can happen, real, real quick, real quick. So let's just continue on, we have all worked so hard, so let's just continue on as a strong Province."
