A World War 1 soldier from Norwich Township will receive a military burial in France next month.
INGERSOLL - A World War 1 soldier from Norwich Township will receive a military burial in France next month.
Private Henry Priddle was with the 4th Battalion Highlanders when he died in the Battle of Hill 70 back in 1917.
His remains were found north of the city of Lens seven years ago, but recently confirmed through DNA testing.
His great niece Margaret Murray says it was an interesting process.
"His DNA was taken from my daughter, whom I don't know how they ever found her but she has to send her DNA to Ottawa to confirm he was her great uncle."
Murray and her daughter will be flying to France next month to attend the ceremony on August 23rd.
"I think when I go there it will be very emotional even though it's been a hundred years, you're there at the cemetery and it's a military funeral so there will probably be soldiers there."
It will be an all expenses paid trip.
