We have more recoveries than new cases today in Ontario. The Health Minister also confirmed 8 new cases of the UK variant of the virus.
ONTARIO - The Province of Ontario has confirmed 2,903 new cases of COVID-19 this morning, bringing the total number of cases in the Province to 222,023.
Ontario Health Minister Christine Elliott says those numbers also include 8 new cases of the UK variant.
The Province also confirmed an additional 41 COVID-19 deaths this morning, bringing the total to 5,053. Meanwhile another 3,353 people have made a full recovery, bringing the total number of resolved cases to 186,829.
The province completed 44,802 tests yesterday. We currently have 1,701 COVID-19 patients in the hospital with 385 people in the ICU and 262 in the ICU on a ventilator. Some of the places with the highest daily increases today include 837 new cases in Toronto, 545 in Peel, 249 in York Region and 246 in Niagara.
